Establishment & Historical Background

Peter University officially commenced operations in 2022. The Peace Studies and Conflict Resolution Programme, domiciled in the Department of Political Science, emerged as one of the degree-awarding academic disciplines introduced during the 2023/2024 academic session.

The pioneer student of the programme is Egboka Michael Vigilus Rapuluchukwu, marking the beginning of an exciting journey in peace education at Peter University.

Mission

To produce competent peace-building professionals equipped with theoretical knowledge and practical skills in conflict analysis, mediation, negotiation, and peace-building. The programme is committed to fostering a culture of peace, tolerance, and non-violent resolution of disputes at local, national, and global levels.

👨‍🏫 Programme Leadership & Academic Team

First Acting Head of Programme FOUNDING COORDINATOR

Rev. Fr. Alex Anagor coordinated the foundational activities and worked collaboratively with key members of the Faculty.

Faculty Leadership Support COLLABORATIVE EFFORT

The Dean of Faculty, Fr. Emefiena Ezeani; the Head of Department of Political Science, Mr. Emeka Ogbuozobe; and Fr. Modestus Anyaegbu provided invaluable support in establishing the programme.

Academic Team Expansion FACULTY GROWTH

The academic team expanded with the employment of Fr. Charles Mmaduekwe, Fr. Christian Umeojilinnaka, and Dr. Patrick Okoli, strengthening the programme's teaching capacity.

NUC Accreditation Success

Through the collective efforts of the programme leadership and faculty, the programme successfully prepared for the National Universities Commission (NUC) accreditation visit in November 2025.
