Establishment & Historical Background

With the establishment of Peter University, Achina-Onneh by the Catholic Diocese of Awka — now jointly owned by the Dioceses of Awka and Ekwulobia — and following the subsequent approvals and license granted by the National Universities Commission (NUC) to commence various programmes, the B.Sc. Accounting was approved as one of the pioneering programmes.

The first set of students were admitted into the department during the 2023/2024 academic session. Since then, the department has witnessed continuous growth in both student enrollment and faculty strength, reflecting the increasing demand for quality accounting education in Nigeria.
